“oh, my life

is changing every day

in every possible way”

— The Cranberries

enough lyrics from the cranberries, here are some facts about the edible ones

water, carbs and fibre

That’s what cranberries are mostly made out of, with almost 90% being water. They do contain plenty of vitamins including maganese, copper, vitamins C, E and K1 as well.

a-type

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common bacterial infection that’s often caused by E. Coli. Some studies have shown that a phytonutrient present in cranberries known as A-type proanthocyanidins helps prevent E. Coli from attaching to the lining of your bladder. While systematic reviews and meta-analysis support these findings, a few studies have not found any significant benefits.

TL;DR - don’t substitute medicine with cranberries.

a-type again

A-type proanthocyanidins could cut the risk of stomach cancers and ulcers by preventing the bacterium Helicobacter pylori from attaching to your stomach lining. There seems to be a trend with cranberries preventing bad bacteria from attaching itself to your insides so why not just have some?

we’ll all float on okay

Despite evolving to grow beside water, cranberry fruits do not grow when they are in water. They have little pockets of air in them that allow them to float on water, allowing the currents to carry them to new land to grow and propagate.

impostor syndrome

Just like its cousin blueberries, cranberries aren’t actually berries, they belong instead to a class of fruits known as epigynous or false berries. Unlike a true berry, the fruit grows from beneath the rest of the flower parts, and as the fruit ripens the flower stays attached and ripens as well. That’s why we didn’t include dried cranberries in our Matcha Berry flavour. Just kidding, we only just found this out too.

rip

We love the fruit cranberries. We also love the band The Cranberries. If you were born in the 70s or 80s, chances are you know them too. In 2018, lead singer Dolores O'Riordan left this world for a better place. Songs like Dreams, Zombie, Ode to My Family will remain as quintessential 90s music.
